Prime Day 2018 Fail: Amazon Shop Servers Crashed and are Down - Updates

Amazon online shop has severe issues. Update: Amazon issues statement and servers seem more stable.

The 36 hours of Amazon Prime Day 2018 start out with website issues. Prime members trying to shop Prime Day deals are greeted with error pages featuring Amazon's dogs. The Prime Day page is not loading the deals. Visitors just get the big graphic as you see above.

Amazon's web team has clearly underestimated the traffic at the Prime Day launch. I also believe these insane animations for Prime Day are not helpful for server performance. Twitter is already in flames over the Amazon Prime Day outage. You can try to get access here.


11 pm ET: It's safe to say is fully back again and all the features of the online shop and the app are working. Check out the hottest Prime Day 2018 deals you can buy now.

5:00 pm ET: Amazon reacts to an outage on Twitter. Amazon says that many customers have been able to shop and that they already sold more than last year on The online shop seems stable now, but Amazon disabled a couple of features, like upcoming deals in the app.

4:20 pm ET: There are little fewer dogs, but still lots of issues on the site and also in the app. It's still impossible to properly shop Prime Day deals over an hour into Prime Day. It's a disaster.

3:35 pm ET: The Amazon Prime Day outage is not only affecting the website, but also the Amazon shopping app. There are now random queries to enter a code to prove that I'm not a robot. This could mean that Amazon is under a DDOS attack. The server issues remain 35 minutes into Prime Day 2018.

3:25 pm ET: Amazon has still server issues 25 minutes into Prime Day. The whole online shop is affected. Nothing really works. The Prime Day page is just showing a giant banner graphic. It's actually time for Amazon to release a statement on what is going on and when Prime member can come back and start shopping Prime Day 2018 deals.

It's good that Amazon has extended Prime Day to 36 hours as the first 10 minutes are a disaster. To score the best Prime Day 2018 deals, you need to be in for the long run. The best Prime Day deals will be released throughout the 36 hour time period.
