World Space Week 2018 Celebrates International Space Events
  • The Outer Space Race is On as World Space Week 2018 Event Begins in Earnest

World Space Week 2018 starts on October 4th to honor the 61st anniversary of the world's first satellite launch, Sputnik 1 Oct. 4, 1957 and the Outer Space Treaty signing on Oct. 10, 1967.

Space is a watchword when it comes to uniting all of humanity in this day and age and so World Space Week 2018 is something worthy of being celebrated. The good thing is that those nations which are not among the highly developed countries of the global village are also making progress in this regard by leaps and bounds. Space and space-related activities are the waves of the future. They lend a bonding motive to humankind which is suffering from all sorts of modern age issues. World Space Week 2018 will be a guiding light in the years ahead as the world enters the space age in its concomitant advanced stages.

The Third World Countries which are major participants in this event are making progress on this front as equal partners with the advanced postindustrial nations. Thanks to science and technology, the citizens of these times enjoy many benefits that would have been unthinkable even as little as 300 years ago. The worldview engendered by science has given the leitmotif to today’s generation and is fulfilling the same purpose that belief in fate inspired in past generations. To combine forces to explore the unlimited and open vistas that come to the fore thanks to the race for space is a very exciting prospect indeed.

Over a thousand space organizations have made joint efforts to hold World Space Week 2018 with fanfare and pomp and show. The event will take place in over 80 nations from the 4th to the 10th of October. All sorts of institutions such as educational centers, historical museums, and astronomical associations have joined hands to make the event a reality. They are working in sync and all this is meant to bring the brotherhood of man closer together. World Space Week 2018 is slowly but steadily taking steps towards a more advanced information society that sees space as the next frontier in the journey of Homo sapiens.

The Event Unfolds with Dignity

Students and pupils from educational institutions will engage in projects of all kinds to celebrate this space event. Yet the focus will always be on cooperation instead of competition. Cooperation is healthy and competition is conflict-based. When you compare two entities, you destroy both in the process. It is in giving, loving, sharing and caring that the beauty of cooperation lies. To use science and technology to benefit an ailing and bewildered humanity has always been the objective of the United Nations and this event also takes it as its starting point.

Among some of the sub-events that will be held in World Space Week 2018 are:

• IMAX documentaries that will highlight the nature of space and the planets and stars that occupy it.

• The Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia will inculcate the spirit of adventure in outer space in students all over the desert kingdom.

• There will be an Open Day event in The Netherlands.

• Nat Geo will organize Mars 2 documentaries in the United States of America.

• Western Europe will have Airbus hold space events in scores of educational institutes across the region.

World Space Week 2018 is not a pipe dream but a solid reality that will light up the path towards the slogan “Space Unites the World” in a wonderful manner.

World Space Week 2018: A Brief Synopsis

Space is not without its fanatical enthusiasts. The remaining seven days will be a time of jubilance and revelry as far as all things space-related are concerned. Not only will these global celebratory activities take place on land and air but also at sea. Two events that took place in the past are object lessons in this regard. They are the launch of Sputnik 1 in the USSR in 1957 and the legitimation of the Outer Space Treaty in 1967. World Space Week 2018 hails back to the year 1999 when the UN General Assembly began the modern tradition. Among the IMAX documentaries are brief interviews with astronauts that lend a peek into their minds that took the stresses and strains of outer space. On the 6th of October, NASA’s 60th Anniversary will get off the ground.

Students will employ plastic bottles, vinegar, and baking soda to create makeshift rockets that will be launched into the air. Also, planetariums will lend a grand view of the heavens to bedazzled amateur astronomers. Among the countries where World Space Week 2018 will be held are such lands as Cyprus where space movies will be shown to bemused audiences.

Space and Beyond…

The planet, that is Spaceship Earth, is a fragile and precious place. As resources reach their marginal limits and the environment is threatened with pollution and degradation, space remains the only alternative to seek new worlds yet to be repopulated. Already space agencies are seriously cogitating about human colonies on the Moon and Mars. World Space Week 2018 is thus a giant step in the right direction for the future of humanity.
