Major changes coming to Walmart's marketplace ahead of Black Friday.

Like Amazon.com, Walmart.com is also a marketplace for third-party sellers. Ahead of Walmart's Black Friday 2018 sales event, the retailer announces major changes to its marketplace. Walmart is working with their marketplace sellers to make millions of items available for free two-day shipping without a membership fee and simplifying the returns process for items purchased from marketplace sellers, including launching the ability to facilitate returns of these items at any one of our 4,700 stores.

What I don't like about Walmart's marketplace offers is the way Walmart hides the information that a product I am about to buy is actually not sold by Walmart. There is a small print line starting with "Sold & shipped by" you have to search for on the product page to check who is selling the product. The reseller information is easier to spot on Amazon. It would be good if Walmart would make it easier for consumers to see if a product is a direct offer or comes from a marketplace store.

Two years ago, Walmart launched free two-day shipping with no membership fee on millions of items that customers buy the most on Walmart.com. The expansion of free two-day shipping will add millions of additional items from marketplace sellers. This initiative is directly aimed at better competing with Amazon.

To return marketplace items all a customer has to do is to log in to his or her Walmart account, print out a return label and ship back to the seller. This new feature is beginning to roll out now. In addition, Walmart is launching the ability to return eligible marketplace items in a Walmart store near you. The marketplace item return in stores will be available starting mid-November.

The first Walmart Black Friday 2018 deals will show up on Walmart.com starting November 1. The Walmart Black Friday 2018 ad is expected to be released on November 8 along with advertised Black Friday deals.
