New Ford Expedition Gets New Perks

No one looks twice at a Ford Expedition most of the time — it's been part of Ford's SUV lineup for decades, but other than its utility, there wasn't too much that was special about this model. That is, until recently, when Ford showcased three new Expedition models at the Texas State Fair. Let's see what's so special about these new Expeditions and when you can expect to find them at your local dealership.

Ford Expedition Texas Edition

The first new Expedition model on the block is the Texas Edition. If you're a fan of the Lone Star State, this is the Expedition for you. This is a badging upgrade for the Special Edition package, so you'll get the heavy-duty tow package and the 22-inch wheels, but you'll also have plenty of "Texas Edition" badges all over the place. It might not sound like much, but if you're a fan of Texas and need a decent tow package, this new edition probably won't set you back too much.

Ford Expedition Platinum Max

This model is larger than your standard Expedition. It might be safe to call it a beast, and you won't have to worry about anyone cutting you off in traffic. It comes equipped with a 3.5L V6 Ecoboost engine, so while the Platinum Max might look like a lumbering rhino, it has plenty of get up and go.

It also comes with all the perks, from power controls for the steering column to a 360-degree camera with a split-view display. It also has a whopping 15 cup holders and six USB ports for mobile device charging spread out across the cabin, so you never have to worry about being stuck somewhere with a dead phone ever again. If you've got a lot of little passengers, there is a dual-headrest entertainment system for the rear seats that you can sync to Netflix, play DVDs or even stream channels from your cable provider.

The only problem with the Platinum Max edition is the price — the standard edition will set you back $83,585 to start. If that’s a little much, you could try winning one. It’s worth a shot!

Ford Expedition Stealth Edition

This is the new Expedition we're really excited about — the Expedition Stealth. The basis for this model is the Expedition Limited edition, but the Expedition Stealth looks entirely different.

Gloss black is the order of the day with this new model, with a ton of aesthetic upgrades that look downright amazing. Ford's designers have done up everything from the 22-inch rims to the headlamp housing and the tailgate applique in glossy black. The black accessories and accents continue to the interior of the car, where they meet up with some amazing-looking red stitching that provides a subtle splash of color in the otherwise black interior.

This Expedition will also come equipped with the 3.5L Ecoboost V6 engine — which is the same engine in the F-150. We don't have any information on pricing or when this fantastic edition will be available to purchase. All Ford would say on the matter was that they'd have more information for us later this year. Considering we're already in the home stretch for 2018, we probably won't have to wait too long.

You might look twice the next time you see an Expedition on the road, especially if it's one of these three new models. We're super-excited for the Stealth model and are waiting with bated breath to see how much one of those new beauties is going to set us back.
