Xiaomi Phone Folds Twice

A leaked video shows an alleged Xiaomi folding smartphone.

2019 will be the year of folding smartphones. Every major smartphone maker except Apple is expected to release a folding smartphone. Xiaomi might have a unique design that could set the Chinese gadget maker apart. A leaked video is supposed to show a Xiaomi folding smartphone. The big difference is that the phone folds twice. It has three screen segments.

The design makes sense and is not necessarily harder to make than a single folding screen. If the video, leaked by Evan Blass, who cautions that he cannot speak to the authenticity of this video or device, is really showing an upcoming Xiaomi device remains to be seen. The video looks legit, which means the device exists at least as a prototype.

Royole will show off its folding phone at the CES 2019 and maybe other folding phones will be on display as well next week. We expect most 2019 folding phones to debut at the MWC 2019 in Feb.

The CES 2019 will take place January 8-11, 2019, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show is the world’s largest and most influential technology event, featuring 4,500 exhibitors across 2.75 million net square feet of exhibit space. The hottest trends of CES 2019 include 5G connectivity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, augmented and virtual reality, mobility, smart home, smart cities, sports tech and more. Most of the CES 2019 announcements will be released ahead of the show in late December and early January. The next wave of news comes during the CES media days on January 6-7, when news conferences and keynotes are scheduled. Read the latest CES 2019 News.
