Nintendo Switch Mini Reportedly In the Works

A lower cost Nintendo Switch could come in 2019.

Nintendo could release a new smaller version of the Nintendo Switch to give the console another big push. Japanese news outlet Nikkei reports that Nintendo has informed suppliers and game developers about a smaller Nintendo Switch to be released in 2019.

The Japanese Nikkei report is behind a paywall. NintendoEverything has posted a translation of the relevant sections. A smaller version of the Nintendo Switch might have no removable Joy-Cons. Nintendo also likely would get rid of the big docking station. In the end the Nintendo Switch could look like a Sony PSP.

Nintendo set another record for Switch sales in the Holiday quarter but stayed behind the initial goal to sell 20 million Switch consoles in its fiscal year. The Nintendo Switch is available for $299 on All Nintendo Switch bundles and special editions Nintendo released last year a sold out and you only can get the two original Switch systems for the regular price.
