Amazon continues to cut the price of the Sony PlayStation Classic. Originally priced at $99, Amazon is offering the PS Classic now for under $40. Walmart also cut the price of the PS Classic to $39.99 at

We have forecasted the price to go below $50 already days after the launch in December. The demand for Sony's retro console is just not there. Now with the price below $40, maybe some Sony fans will get motivated to buy the PlayStation Classic.

This might be the lowest price for a brand-new Sony PlayStation Classic.

The PS classic mini approximately 45% smaller than the original PlayStation and includes an HDMI cable to connect directly to a TV. Sony's mini PlayStation comes with 20 pre-loaded games including, Final Fantasy Vll, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3 and Wild Arms. Quality issues with select games and missing fan-favorite titles have damaged the demand for the PS Classic, which launched in December. Customer reviews on Amazon for the PS Classic are now on average 3.3 out of 5 stars.

Nintendo seems to have put the retro gaming hardware segment behind them after the very successful NES Classic and SNES Classic releases. Rumors about a GameCube Classic or GameBoy Classic have died down.
