The Latest on the 5G Network Rollout in the U.S.

Where is my 5G download speed experience?

The next generation of mobile connectivity, 5G networks, is set to begin widespread usage throughout the U.S. While this mobile network has been largely adopted by the major wireless phone companies, the fact remains that few people have seen the actual networks in practice. That has led many to question what is going on and when they can expect news to break on the networks.

What is 5G?

First things first, let’s perform a little review. The 5G networks are the fifth iteration of mobile connectivity, and are changing the way that people connect to the internet. For starters, it is much, much faster than the 4G LTE predecessor that is widely seen on the market today. Moreover, there is a lot less air latency in the new networks than those that are out currently. In short, this is going to be a lot faster, have less “lag”, and provide much higher levels of reliability than previous models.

Who is Using 5G Right Now?

Presently, there have been some citywide releases of networks with 5G speeds from brands such as Sprint and Verizon. Some of the cities that have these networks are Chicago and Dallas, though the rollout has been mostly subdued as testing continues. On specific devices that are brand new, like the Galaxy S10 5G, the speeds have been fantastic and indicative of the quality to come.

That being said, some of the 5G networks are also being used by businesses, which are going to be one of the primary users of the networks overall. Companies are testing the applicability in using the networks to develop new software, communicate more effectively between businesses, and fulfill orders in record time.

Releases on the Horizon

The rollout is slogging through a phase where they have to test the systems with users of various sorts while the makers of phones and other communicative devices try to play catch up. After all, there are fewer than a dozen phones out there which are optimized to work on these networks.

That doesn’t mean that work isn’t being done and that the major indicators of a nationwide rollout aren’t there. Based on the information available, it seems that late 2019 and early 2020 are going to be a significant times for 5G phones and networks alike.

The future of mobile connectivity is almost here. With some of the major companies out there introducing versions of 5G in limited areas, it seems that a massive rollout is not all that far away. However, the complications that are prevalent in the world of mobile networks could prove to be severe obstacles. Convincing people to buy new phones while pursuing consistency in the connectivity are just two of the things that could provide troubles. Still, the rollout is nigh, and techies all over should be prepared. So, to answer the question of when you could stroll into a store and come out with a new phone on a new network, the best bet would be 2020.
