Samsung Electronics has added new smart devices to its line of SmartThings connected home gadgets including a camera, WiFi plug and a smart bulb.

The SmartThings Cam is a CCTV camera with full HD (1080p) and HDR 145-degree wide-angle video range that is able to detect objects and distinguish between people, pets or passing objects like cars and start recording as soon as it detects motion.

The $89.99 camera can be set up to specifically target a certain activity zone, allowing for full coverage of a specific area, such as when parents want to monitor their babies or when a pet jumps on furniture when nobody is home. Additionally, the SmartThings Cam has a night vision that captures motion even at night, as well as an audio capability, allowing it to record sounds to complement with the captured videos.

Samsung has also introduced the SmartThings Wifi Smart Plug, which starts at $17.99. The device can be set up through a customer’s in-home Wi-Fi system, allowing users to control appliances such as lamps and electronic devices through voice commands.

Another addition to the SmartThings range of Samsung’s smart home devices is the SmartThings Smart Bulb that automatically turns on whenever it detects movements at night, or turns on activity zones whenever a user leaves home. Users will be able to turn off, turn on or even dim the lights with just a voice command. The Smart Bulb retails at $9.99.

The products are available on and select retailers, including Best Buy, the company said in a press release.

Samsung’s SmartThings line of products already includes the Leviton Universal Dimmer, which can be set to turn lights on or off; the Arlo Pro camera, which can capture videos at 720p HD resolution; the Ring Video Doorbell Pro, which can see, hear and speak with visitors in 1080p HD resolution day and night; the Yale Assure Lock with Bluetooth, which can create multiple codes for key-free access; and the ecobee SmartThermostat, which has a smart sensor and can be controlled by voice.

SmartThings is the South Korean electronics giant’s range of devices to promote the adoption of smart homes.
