Sears suffers technical glitch, leaving shoppers furious

Complaints on Twitter revealed that the outage has been going on for several days.

U.S. department store chain Sears and its affiliate retail chain, Kmart, suffered widespread technical glitches this week, leaving some angry shoppers fire out on Twitter.

A company spokesperson confirmed to Business Insider about the outage, which has prevented some customers from filing for returns, picking up online orders and accessing their “Shop Your Way” loyalty points in both Sears and Kmart outlets. Additionally, some Kmart stores were also unable to process non-cash transactions.

The glitch also made it difficult for customers to make service appointments for broken appliances, while some customers complained that they have waited hours for deliveries that never came.

On Twitter, Sears has been responding to customer complaints, saying it’s “currently experiencing some technical difficulties and are in the process of resolving.”

Multiple customers complained about not being able to book appointments to get their refrigerators, thermostats and other home appliances — bought from Sears and Kmart — checked. Sears is currently offering repairs for products that are bought from any of their outlets.

Meanwhile, Sears customer Melissa Feldmeyer called out Sears for not addressing its multi-day technical issue, sparking concerns about how the retailer is handling the problem.

The company has yet to release an official statement about the system outage.
