How to Disable and Turn Off Live Photos Permanently in iPhone 7

For some users, Live Photos keep turning on automatically. In this article we mention how to disable Live Photos permanently.

Live Photos is an excellent feature in new iPhones that allows users to take 3-second live, moving images. However, in iPhone 7 Plus, Live Photos feature is turned on by default. Live Photos trigger without ever user intervention, resulting in automatic photos, which are not preferred by a lot of users. Several iPhone 7 Plus users report that their devices start taking Live photos when they open their cameras.

The problem is that the Live photos feature keeps going back to default in iPhone 7 Plus. In order to stop this, you will have to manually turn it on using the preserve option. When manually set to ON, the Live photos feature won’t take photos automatically.

Here is how to turn off Live photos permanently in your iPhone 7 Plus.

Using Preserve Settings

Go to Settings

Head over to Photos & Camera

Open Preserve Settings, and switch Live Photos to ON. This will preserve your own choice-based settings. The default setting of automatically taking photos won’t return.

Some users might not see the option of Preserve Settings. The main reason behind that is outdated iOS. Make sure to update your iOS as soon as possible. Apple introduced the Preserve Settings option in iOS 10.2 and above.

If you want to quickly take Live Photos, you can always tap the yellow (three concentric circles) circle icon at the center by launching the camera app. After taking photos, turn it off. But keep in mind that this won’t turn off Live Photos permanently. The iOS turns on Live Photos by default. To disable the feature permanently, you will have to use the preserve settings option which I mentioned above.
