A Discover tab just like Instagram and Twitter's is on the way for TikTok.

TikTok, the hit social media app for video sharing, is coming out with at least eight updates to its app that is expected to change the way video contents are shared and viewed.

The upcoming changes were revealed by technology blogger and white hat hacker Jane Manchun Wong, who is best known for reverse-engineering popular social media apps.

On her Twitter page, Wong revealed that among the new features is the ability to view likes and download counts on each video on the Sound and Hashtag pages, in what is seen as a reversal of what Instagram was recently reported to be removing. We recently reported about Instagram testing a new feature that will hide the number of likes people can see in users’ photos or videos in a bid to shy away from the “likes and comments culture.”

Another planned feature by TikTok is adding the “Liked by creator” badge so that users will know if a certain comment was liked by the user who posted the video.

TikTok is also planning to add an account switcher option, which is what we have seen over the years with Instagram and Twitter.

An ability to link the account to Facebook and Google is also seen as a potential new feature so that users can log in to their TikTok account by Facebook or Google.

According to Wong, TikTok is also considering adding a “Send to” WhatsApp section to allow users to instantly send videos to WhatsApp users.

Another major revamp is the addition of a “Discover” tab, which, if confirmed, would make TikTok look more like Instagram or Twitter.

Wong has also revealed TikTok’s plan to move the TikCode button from the Profile tab to Settings.

If the changes push through, the features would be a gamechanger for TikTok, which is starting to rise to becoming one of the most downloaded social media app to date.
