After a long wait, the world's most infamous trio is back at it for a new season of The Grand Tour.

Queue epic montage of footage from the new season followed by Jeremy Clarkson's ubiquitous proclamation of "we're back!" Even though we know it can't happen because BBC, this is the true nature of every new season of "The Grand Tour" — just as it was during Clarkson, Hammond and May's "Top Gear" golden age.

Before we can welcome car culture's most celebrated producer-pummeling host back into our living rooms, there has to be hype. What's better than an ongoing buddy comedy with a Marvel Studios budget? It's almost here!

We've Made It to Season 4

After debuting to understandable acclaim — their replacements on BBC took some time to sort things out — "The Grand Tour" fell victim to critiques that it was just a warmed-over remake of their previous show. It's difficult feedback to process when you can't argue that "Top Gear" viewers probably wanted exactly that for the most part.

Three seasons with Amazon has helped "The Grand Tour" find its own identity as the even-sillier, at times melodramatic long-form India Special episode. It reduced the old show to its very best by bringing the goofy chemistry between the threesome into hyper-focus. With that formula now well-and-truly burned into production values, season 4 should not disappoint.

Mark Your Calendars

While Amazon has yet to share the specific date of the new release, which we've known for some time has been in production, social media posts by the crew suggest it's coming sooner-than-expected. Clarkson chose to communicate this with — what else — an image of a barn owl. Ah, British humor.

Entertainment journalists have suggested the show might be available on Amazon Prime's streaming television service in the fourth quarter of 2019. Because the three have been so well-received in out-of-the-way places, the formula for season 4 appears to eschew the traveling tent for a set of plane tickets and some ominous instructions from "the producers."

What About the Cars?

Right, there are cars on this show. We know the new format is entirely road trips. They've done away with putting other people in cars, faking celebrity deaths and testing how quickly vehicles can lap the tiny test circuit a-la "Top Gear's" Stig. What cars will they be driving, though?

With the studio keeping tight-lipped, it's difficult to say — particularly with the way Clarkson, Hammond and May have a penchant for selecting the most obscure vehicles for their road-trips as a way of giving the show character. It works.

Forced to guess, it wouldn't be surprising to see the much-hyped new Toyota Supra make an appearance. We'd also put money on something new and high-tech like Volvo's Polestar 1 or 2 models, or the latest and greatest from Koenigsegg. Toss in some quirky vintage fun like a road trip in a Soviet-made Lada van or Metro 6R4 and you get the idea.

Of course, these are just unfounded guesses, but there should be some teaser footage soon enough to narrow the field. We're as excited as you are.
