The battle of the tech giants has a new battleground.

Google’s redesigned shopping portal, Google Shopping, has finally went live in the U.S. with a new homepage, in what appears as a move to challenge e-commerce behemoth Amazon.com.

Both tech giants are currently neck and neck in the tech space and Google's foray into shopping could prove to be an obstacle for Amazon's e-retail dominance.

Google's revamped portal now offers a more personalized shopping experience that provides links to products according to their categories:

Electronics

Home & Garden

Health & Beauty

Toys & Games

Grocery

Household Supplies

Baby & Kids

Home Improvement & Tools

Sports & Outdoors

Office & School Supplies

Travel, Luggage & Bags

Apparel

Arts, Crafts & Party Supplies

Pet Supplies

Automotive

Apart from the product categories, the portal also has a special section that could adapt to the current shopping season. This time, the page shows a special summer feed just in time for summer.

Products with a blue Google tag means that they can be checked out with Google to allow customers to get simple returns and customer support.

Apart from products sold at Google Shopping, the portal also features a section that is dedicated for products on sale at Target. Target's products that are shown on Google Shopping also have the blue Google tag, meaning shoppers can automatically add the items to their Google Shopping carts without having to go to Target.com.

Aside from Target, Google Shopping also hosts a number of supermarkets and other stores that you can access through shopping.google.com/stores. Among Google's partner stores include Costco, Best Buy, Overstock, Boxed, 99 Ranch Market, Glade, Hasbro Toy Shop, Hayneedle, HP.com, Levi's, and hundreds of other retailers that offer all sorts of products.

Google Shopping's home page also has a "Trending on Google" section, where customers can check the latest products that are popular among other shoppers, as well as an "On sale" section, where it offers a list of products that are currently on sale.

Products on Google Shopping are covered by a "Buy with Google guarantee" wherein Google promises to refund customers if items were not received, or if customers were delivered the wrong items, if the items did not meet the customer's expected condition, or if the item ordered was delivered late.
