Samsung has tweaked the phones foldability following issues reported by tech bloggers and reviewers.

Samsung has finally released a statement about the upcoming launch of its Galaxy Fold dual-display smartphones following months of delay.

The South Korean consumer electronics company said the phone will become available to consumers starting September to select markets, without disclosing a specific date.

The Galaxy Fold was originally scheduled for an April 26 release. However, Samsung has pushed back the public release of its highly anticipated phone after tech reviewers who have been given sample units of the phone to try out encountered problems with the Galaxy Fold’s hinges, among other issues.

Most recently, Samsung said it has made some improvements to the Galaxy Fold including the top protective layer of the Infinity Flex Display, which has been extended further beyond the bezel. Samsung also integrated additional “reinforcements” to better protect the phone from external particles.

The top and bottom of the phone’s hinge has also been strengthened with newly added protection caps, while reducing the space between the hinge and body of the phone.

Samsung said it will reveal further details about the device’s availability as it gets closer to the launch.

“All of us at Samsung appreciate the support and patience we’ve received from Galaxy fans all over the world. Galaxy Fold is a device long in the making, and we’re proud to share it with the world and look forward to bringing it to consumers,” the tech giant said in a statement.

Samsung unveiled its first foldable phone on February 20. It boasts a 7.3-inch dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex display that allows users to multitask. The phone folds into a compact device with a cover display.

Samsung had earlier described the phone as a smartphone and a tablet all “folded” into one device.

The Galaxy Fold has a 10MP selfie camera, three rear triple cameras and front dual cameras. It runs on 12GB RAM and 512GB of storage. The phone has a 4,380mAh battery capacity with Fast Charging compatibility on wired and wireless charging options.

The phone is expected to retail at about $1,980.
