The amazing Growth of Cloud Computing

There is little doubt that Cloud computing has become a huge deal over recent years. More and more businesses are opting to migrate to the Cloud and are taking advantage of the many benefits it offers. From making remote working and collaboration between colleagues easier to helping businesses save money on data center costs, Cloud computing has been a revelation. Of course, working in the Cloud is also secure due to the robust protocols that Cloud based software uses and the high-security data centers that are running the systems.

You only have to look at the figures around this sector to see just what amazing growth it has seen. Back in 2016, the global revenue generated from public cloud services was $219.6 billion. Into the present day, that figure is estimated to rise to $355.6 billion by the close of 2019. Forecasts for the future of the Cloud computing sector look even rosier with revenue predictions of over $600 billion by 2023. That is a stunning rate of growth and shows exactly how much demand has rocketed for Cloud computing across the planet.

Infor lead the way

One major name which has been linked to the emergence of Cloud computing across the industry is Infor. Led by Charles Phillips, Infor has 58 million users of its Cloud-based products and services in a range of sectors. Known for being pioneers in deploying whole industries in the Cloud under Phillips’ leadership, they continue to drive the Cloud computing industry forward.

Recent Q4 figures from Infor also provide further insight into the growth Cloud computing is seeing. Indeed, the company reported Q4 of 2019 as bringing the highest Cloud bookings it has ever recorded. This saw a jump in revenue for Infor of 2.2% and software license along with renewal subscriptions were up by 2.8%. This not only shows what rude health Infor is in but just how popular the whole Cloud sector has become overall.

But which sectors in particular find Cloud computing useful?

One area which has really taken advantage of what the Cloud offers is education. From high schools to colleges, working in this way offers educational institutions a number of benefits. Not only can it help teachers access the information they need wherever they are, but it can help with the storage of key student data and collaboration between teachers. Many schools now use Cloud-based platforms to upload data for students to view when needed or to post up homework assignments. One major benefit of Cloud-based working for schools is the money it can save which is then released to spend on extra staff or facilities.

Although healthcare can be slow to move with the times, many hospitals and surgeries have taken Cloud computing into use. That is largely due to the security that modern Cloud computing solutions offer to keep patient data safe. Working in the Cloud is a boon for busy healthcare workers who can access electronic patient notes quickly to make a more informed diagnosis. Cloud-based software can also help with collating patient data and makes it easier to access when conducting research studies. Above all, working in the Cloud allows healthcare staff to work more efficiently and frees up time to spend with patients.

The retail sector is one of the real backbones of the global economy. Many retailers have migrated to Cloud technology over time and more are sure to follow. One major advantage it offers is the amount of insight it gives into stock levels and supply chain management. This gives a retailer full control over what is happening and allows the business to work more efficiently. Cloud computing can also provide key customer data based on past sales, so you can make the right buying choices moving forward. Working in this way allows you to combine the different processes you have into one system to work smarter and save money.

Cloud computing looks set for further growth

As noted earlier in this article, Cloud-based ways of working look set for further growth into the future. This is to be expected as businesses see the advantages it offers, and customers begin to be more comfortable with it. As Cloud tech is actually a very big presence in all our daily lives, it seems only a matter of time until it is the accepted way of working for all businesses. With higher efficiency, better customer service and reduced costs, it is easy to see why.
