A new 2 to 4 player local and online multiplayer brawler game is coming to PCs via Steam on August 30.

Stolen Shoes Entertainment, the maker of mobile game Sunset Falls, has launched RoboVirus, a robot-themed game that is played best in late-night parties with “a few friends and many beers.” That is according to Stolen Shoes CEO Miikka Sipila.

The game takes place in megastructure RobotHive, a Utopia gone bad, where a RoboVirus attacks the motherboard and signals the arrival of robots named Nooker, Quacker, Spoder and SCAM. Players of the game will be able to control all four robots and fight against death inside the corrupted motherboard. Up to four players can play RoboVirus together. For those who would rather play alone, or those who are looking to practice before battling it out against other players, they can try out single-player mode against computer-controlled robots.

RoboVirus features moving platforms, treadmills and traps. The game can be played using a PC controller like the Razer Wolverine Ultimate or with a mouse or keyboard. On its website, Stolen Shoes said the game is best played with a controller. "The game is designed for controller in mind so you could get the most enjoyment out of your game session," the game maker said.

When playing with a controller, the left trigger is used to dash, the right trigger for shooting, the left thumb stick to move and the right thumb stick to aim.

For Xbox One consoles, the A and B buttons are used for menu navigation, while for the PlayStation 4, the equivalent is the X and O buttons. For players who would much rather use a mouse and a keyboard, they can use the WASD buttons or the arrow keys for moving, while the Shift button is used to dash. The mouse is used for aiming and shooting.

Gamers can start purchasing RoboVirus now on Steam for $9.99 ahead of its release on August 30.

For console players, Finland's Stolen Shoes hinted at a potential console launch in the near future.
