How to Fix Apple Walkie-Talkie Feature, App Not Working Problem

Apple Walkie-Talkie is not working for a lot of users. Here's how to fix the problem.

Apple introduced Walkie-Talkie feature in its watchOS 5 for Apple Watch. The feature was an instant success. Talking to your friends in a busy market, hiking trip or college in the Walkie-Talkie style over your Apple Watch is fun. But a lot of users are having difficulty with the Walkie-Talkie app. They complain that Walkie-Talkie is not working in their Apple Watches.

Here are some of the ways to fix Apple Walkie-Talkie not working.

Fix Apple Walkie-Talkie Not Working

Update to Fix Security Vulnerability

In July, Apple temporarily disabled Walkie-Talkie app in its Apple Watch due to security vulnerabilities. That problem was fixed after some days, and users were asked to update their devices. If you haven’t updated your Apple Watch yet, make sure to do so instantly. You must update to iOS 12.4+ and watchOS 5.3 or above to start using Apple Walkie-Talkie again.

Here is how to update:

Open Apple Watch app in your iPhone. Open General and head over to the Software update section. Install the update if available.

To update your iOS, launch settings and go to General -> Software Update.

Since Apple Walkie-Talkie works in conjunction with FaceTime on iPhone, you should make sure that FaceTime is configured correctly in your iPhone.

Launch Settings and open FaceTime. You will see a toggle button. Turn this button to ON in order to enable the FaceTime app.

After ensuring that your FaceTime app is configured correctly, restart your iPhone

You can check your FaceTime app by initiating a call to a friend or a family member.

Also, restart your Apple Watch.

It’s important to note that FaceTime is not available in all countries or regions. If you are trying to use Apple Walkie-Talkie from a place where FaceTime isn’t operational, you won’t get any success with Walkie-Talkie app.

Check your connectivity and device pairing. Sometimes Apple Watch drops its pairing connection with iPhone randomly. You should see a small green iPhone sign on your Apple Watch.

Apple ID

If your Apple ID is also being used in some other device apart from your own iPhone, Walkie Talkie won’t work. Walkie-Talkie configures only with a unique Apple ID dedicated to a single device. Sign out from all other devices using your Apple ID.
