Nintendo was responding to a series of reports, which all emerged from a Reddit user's post.

Nintendo has dismissed reports suggesting that the company is offering an exchange program for the Nintendo Switch for those who have purchased their consoles after July 17.

The company was responding to a number of recent reports, which originated on Reddit. DarthMewtwo, on Reddit, said: “Nintendo told me if you bought your Switch after July 17th 2019, they can exchange it for the new upgraded model for free.”

The Reddit user said he called Nintendo to get a battery upgrade, and that he was told that “they could only exchange for the new model if it was purchased after July 17th. They also told me it wasn't the battery that was upgraded, but rather the processor.”

Most recently, Nintendo issued a statement to The Verge, saying:

“We do not have a Nintendo Switch exchange program. We always want players to enjoy their Nintendo Switch systems, and if anything ever gets in the way of that, we encourage them to visit for support, or to contact our consumer support team.”

Nintendo is set to launch an updated version of the Nintendo Switch with a better battery life, giving players at least two extra hours of play. This brings the battery life to an estimated usage of between 4.5 and 9 hours, up from the previous 2.5 to 6.5 hours.

The news comes as Nintendo is preparing for the launch of the Nintendo Switch Lite. The new console, which is already up for pre-order on for just $199.96, is set to be released on September 20.

There are four variants of the Nintendo Switch Lite to choose from:

Nintendo Switch Lite Gray

Nintendo Switch Lite Turquoise

Nintendo Switch Lite Yellow

Nintendo Switch Zacian and Zamazenta Edition

The Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition is part of Nintendo’s special offering to celebrate the upcoming release of the Pokémon Sword and Shield RPG games.
