Porsche’s Taycan all-electric sports car will be the first vehicle ever to feature a standalone Apple Music app straight on their cars’ touchscreen display.

The Volkswagen-owned luxury carmaker has partnered with Apple Music to develop the first fully integrated music streaming experience inside the upcoming Porsche Taycan, which will be unveiled in September ahead of the official rollout by the end of 2019.

Through the standalone Apple Music app, drivers of the Porsche Taycan will no longer have to connect their iPhones to their in-car entertainment system. They will be able to play their Apple Music playlist straight from the touchscreen display in the Porsche Advanced Cockpit.

Drivers can take advantage of custom Porsche voice control to request songs, albums, playlists, or radio stations on Apple Music via Porsche’s Voice Assistant.

Aside from playing over 50 million ad-free songs straight in the cockpit, drivers will also get to enjoy complimentary in-car streaming data for three years with an external antenna and roaming package.

New and existing Porsche owners are eligible for up to 6 months free of Apple Music.

The move comes as Porsche seeks to boost its digital entertainment offerings to attract more drivers.

“Porsche and Apple Music fit perfectly – we share common values, and the same relentless attitude to user experience, to quality engineering, to design, and to innovation,” Detlev von Platen, member of Porsche’s Executive Board for Sales and Marketing, said in a statement.

Here’s what Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music and International Content, has to say about the partnership: “Listening to music while driving can be an electrifying feeling… Since Apple Music launched, we’ve been working to bring our customers the best music experience possible in the car, and Porsche has been on the cutting edge in this space. Porsche builds sports cars at the highest level and today, with the introduction of the Taycan, customers now can choose Apple Music built-in seamlessly to find the perfect soundtrack for every drive.”
