YouTube Music now has a Released playlist to take on New Music Friday by Spotify

In the battle of the best music streaming app, YouTube may still be in its infancy versus Spotify.

YouTube has been around since time immemorial, but the online video sharing platform’s music streaming service was only launched in late 2015, seven years after Spotify was established.

The two platform’s two closest rivals are Apple Music and Amazon Music Unlimited, which is the premier tier of Amazon Prime Music.

As the competition for gaining the most number of subscribers intensifies, YouTube Music has come out with its own version of Spotify’s “New Music Friday” playlist: a new playlist called “Released”.

YouTube Music’s Released playlist features the 50 hottest songs of the week, which refreshes every Friday. Currently, the list includes new releases from Taylor Swift, Missy Elliott, Avicii, Lana Del Rey and more.

The first set of YouTube Music’s Released came out just in time for the release of Taylor Swift’s new Lover album.

It comes just days after Apple Music revised the frequency of the release of its line of latest tracks. Apple Music’s “New Music Daily” playlist was formerly known as “Best of the Week”. The revamped New Music Daily playlist by Apple Music refreshes every day.

Meanwhile, Amazon’s take on the newly released tracks playlist is a “Discover New Music” category on its home page.

Amazon also continues to plug new music by featured artists on the e-commerce company’s online marketplace itself,

Amazon displays them via banner ads. Currently, the website shows an ad for Taylor Swift’s new album, Lover:
