Mario Kart Tour for iOS, Android arriving September 25

Get set to take Mario and his friends on a world tour.

Nintendo has officially set the date for the release of a new Mario Kart adventure for iOS and Android devices, the “Mario Kart Tour,” which is rolling out September 25, that’s less than a month away!

The launch has been a long time coming after Nintendo of America announced via Twitter in February 2018 that the game would be launched in March 2019.

Pre-registration for the game is already open on Google Play and pre-orders have also begun on Apple’s App Store.

According to the game’s listings on both Google Play and App Store, Mario Kart Tour will take Mario and his friends on an international tour as they race around courses across real-world cities. The destinations that are inspired by cities in the real world will rotate every two weeks.

Mario and his friends will also see some exciting costume changes as they tour through the world.

The game was first launched in 1992 as a spin-off from the Super Mario series. Mario Kart used to be only available on consoles. Now with the addition of Mario Kart Tour for smartphones, the series now features 14 editions. The most recent edition prior to the latest one was Mario Kart Arcade GP VR, released in July 2017 for select markets in Asia, the U.S. and Europe. Mario Kart Arcade GP VR is played via a virtual reality headset and in first person.

Meanwhile, Mario Kart Tour for mobile devices will let players steer and drift their karts with just one finger. Take note that a Nintendo Account is required to be able to play Mario Kart Tour.
