Mark your calendars: The Nintendo Switch Lite arrives September 20, pre-order now

You only have 23 days to pre-order this compact console from Nintendo.

In less than a month from now, we are about to finally get our hands on a revolutionary device that is guaranteed to take the console gaming world by storm.

We’re talking about Nintendo’s highly anticipated Nintendo Switch Lite, and everyone has been anxiously waiting for its release since it was first announced in early July.

The Switch Lite is definitely changing the way people play video games. Its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch, received the same response when it was first released in March 2017.

Over two years on, Nintendo has again found a way to bring out the excitement to its loyal gamers with the upcoming launch of the Nintendo Switch Lite on September 20.

The Nintendo Switch Lite, as the name implies, is the lighter version of the Nintendo Switch. This just proves Nintendo's dominance in the market of compact gaming devices.

Apart from its weight, what everyone has been most excited about is its affordability. At just $199.99, the device is $100 cheaper than the Nintendo Switch, which costs $299.99.

The Switch Lite is currently available for pre-order on retail outlets including Walmart.com, GameStop, as well as Amazon.com. They come in three different colors: yellow, gray and turquoise.

On Amazon.com, you can find the following variants:

Nintendo Switch Lite Gray

Nintendo Switch Lite Turquoise

Nintendo Switch Lite Yellow

Apart from these three, Nintendo will also be releasing a special edition Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta variant for the same price. The limited edition Switch Lite will be released ahead of the launch of the Pokémon Sword and Shield RPG games in November.

To make sure that you are able to get one before they run out of stock on all retail outlets, make sure to check out the free Tracker app and subscribe to the Nintendo Switch Lite stock trackers. This way, you no longer have to check out all stores one by one to see if it's available. The app will instantly notify you if they are back in stock.

The Switch Lite is specifically designed for handheld play for gamers on the go, allowing them to break the monotony of their daily commute to work or school. It supports games that support handheld mode such as Super Smash Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Mario Kart, and more than 2,000 others.

Because it’s built for travel, the Switch Lite can be played when you’re alone. However, it’s more fun when you get to play with and against your friends. The Switch Lite supports multiplayer gaming options, allowing up to 8 players using either the Switch Lite or the original Switch to play together.

Just because it’s cheaper doesn’t mean it’s not as good as the Nintendo Switch. The Switch Lite also supports shopping online via the Nintendo eShop, where gamers can purchase digital versions of the game — no need to purchase games outside their dedicated store.

Just like the Switch, the Switch Lite also features a custom news feed that is packed with news updates, announcements and more to keep gamers up-to-date with all the new Nintendo games coming to the device.

Perhaps the biggest difference between the two devices is that the Switch Lite does not include a set of Joy-Con controllers since it’s built for light gaming. It also does not support TV gameplay because it is not compatible with the Nintendo Switch dock.

Despite this, the Nintendo Switch Lite has an even better battery life compared to the Nintendo Switch. Gamers can spend about 3 to 7 hours of continuous gaming with the upcoming device, unlike the Nintendo Switch that can only be played between 2.5 and 6.5 hours.

If you’re out of the house most of the time, then the Switch Lite is definitely the one for you.
