Google is shutting down its job listings platform Google Hire

Google Hire is just one of the many products that Google is killing off this year.

Google is pulling the plug on Google Hire, the tech giant’s proprietary applicant tracking system that helps small and medium-sized companies delegate jobs and identify and attract potential candidates.

Hire by Google will no longer be available starting September 1, 2020, over a year from now. Customers who are using the service may still use the platform until the end of their contract. Those whose contracts fall after September 1, 2020 may no longer use it from then.

The platform acts as a recruiting software for G Suite. It offers a range of services including applicant tracking, candidate relationship management, candidate sourcing and more. Google Hire uses AI to make the hiring process faster and simpler. It lets companies and their recruiters link up Gmail, Google Calendar and other G Suite products to better manage the hiring process.

Google Hire has its own desktop software and a mobile app that helped recruiters hire on the go and respond to candidates anytime and anywhere.

The decision to discontinue Google Hire follows Google’s move to shut down its Google+ and Google Inbox services last April, its smart messaging app Allo last March, as well as its Jump VR platform last June.

Earlier, Google also discontinued some of the affiliate services of YouTube, such as YouTube Gaming and YouTube direct messaging.

In its latest announcement via its Support page, Google said the move to shut down Google Hire is part of the company’s efforts to focus its resources on other products in the Google Cloud portfolio.

Google Hire users with a contract can still seek tech support until September 1, 2020. For those whose contracts are expiring prior to September 1, they can still renew their contracts for no additional fees, but only until that date. Clients can also ask Google for help in exporting their data during the course of their contract.

In the days leading up to the complete shutdown of the platform, Google said there will be no additional feature developments. Google stressed that the shutdown of Google Hire will not affect customers’ existing G Suite agreements.
