Why Direct Current Actuators are Better to Use

Linear actuator technology allows equipping the automation mechanisms with a special microcontroller able to monitor the work progress, according to feedback signals. According to received performance data, such a microcontroller is able to make decisions on linear actuator performance, whether to slow it down, accelerate the working tempo a little bit, or even fully stop the mechanism in order to prevent major breakdown that may be caused by even the smallest mistakes or inconsistencies. Also, electric linear actuators can be automated with the help of electric relays that are able to change the current polarity on pins in order to switch the direction of the electric linear actuator’s movement. For example, in order to stop the pushing rod in the required position, the ends of stroke (EOS) switches can be added into the unit. They are also called ‘limit switches’. The limit switches are placed directly on the rod. Limit switches start to work at the moment when the rod reaches its extreme positions. As the sensors are placed at the end of stroke positions the relay changes the current polarity which results in reverse movement or the full stop of the actuator. When the rod reaches the end stroke position, the sensor can turn the power off. Further, the stem can only move in the opposite direction. It is done as soon as the polarity of the power supply is changed.

With smart automation systems that can be assembled with the implementation of electric linear actuators, production factories where human labor before was indefeasible can shift to assembly lines that can deal with the production process fully autonomously. Linear actuators require almost no maintenance, that allows shortening the number of people working with the production process but still with increasing the quality and tempo of production.
