Sony Xperia 2 photos leak online ahead of expected September 5 launch

Sony is keeping its three-camera setup with the rumored Xperia 2.

Consumer electronics giant Sony could be coming out with the successor to the Sony Xperia 2 earlier than we all expected.

The Sony Xperia 1 was revealed on February 1 and was subsequently released in May. Now, Sony is rumored to be releasing the Sony Xperia 2 at the IFA 2019, Europe's largest consumer electronics show, on September 5.

Sony is scheduled to present new products at the IFA, according to is website. However, the company did not say whether it will be launching new mobile devices.

A Sony fansite, called Xperia Blog, has published photos of what appears to be the Xperia 2. According to the website, Sony has always launched new handsets at the annual IFA.

Xperia Blog was able to obtain some press photos of the upcoming Xperia 2 ahead of its expected launch. Check them out:

The photos show a similar 21:9 form factor as the Xperia 1, plus a three-camera setup that is similar to the Xperia 1. However, unlike the Xperia 1, the leaked photos of the Xperia 2 show the phone’s cameras situated on the left side of the rear of the phone, similar to the iPhone X line.

Back in June, GSM Arena spotted a leaked photo of the potential new Xperia. The photo, from Chinese blogger Zackbuks, also shows the camera’s placement at the left side of the phone. At the time, the website said it could be the ony Xperia 1v or 1s.

The Xperia 1 is a powerful device that could catapult Sony back to its prime years. It uses the same technology as Sony's monitors, cameras and audio devices.
