Huawei to launch new Mate 30 on September 19

The Huawei Mate 30 is tipped to be yet another Huawei smartphone with a magnificent camera setup.

Huawei has officially set the date for the launch of its new smartphone, the Mate 30, and it’s going to be on September 19 at an event in Munich, Germany.

The Huawei 30 is a follow-up to the Mate 3200 series, which was first released in October of last year, and is still widely popular among Android users.

There’s no word yet on what the Huawei Mate 30 will pack, but judging from Huawei’s official invite on its website, the Mate 30 series’ camera will still sport a Leica camera setup, as the company did in almost all of its models.

During the Munich event, Huawei will also be holding a recruitment drive for its “Content Crew,” who will work on the company’s contents to attract more users.

It comes as Huawei faces intense scrutiny in the United States from the Trump administration, which could ultimately lead to the company losing its contracts with its U.S. suppliers.

This saga raises doubts on whether Huawei’s Mate 30 or its future line of smartphones would still run on Android, a product of Google. As you know, Google is an American company and U.S. President Donald Trump had earlier issued an Executive Order banning American companies from doing business with Huawei over “security threats.”

The ban was suspended in July, and was again recently pushed back for another 90 days. However, Huawei’s relations with the U.S. is still unclear and this could push the company to fast-track the launch of its own operating system, called HarmonyOS. At the time of the HarmonyOS’s announcement in early August, the company said it would only serve as a backup for Android.

Whether Huawei would still stick to Android is the question that we’re looking forward to finding an answer to on September 19.

In the meantime, you can still check out the Mate 30’s predecessor, which are still of high quality when compared to other Android devices in the market:

Huawei Mate 20 Pro 128GB + 6GB ($570.00)

Huawei Mate 20 Lite 64GB ($199.49)

Huawei Mate 20 128GB / 4GB ($529.38)
