Audio-Technica Bluetooth earbuds are now ‘truly wireless’

These new headphones will be available for purchase starting this month.

Fresh from the IFA 2019 in Berlin, audio expert Audio-Technica has unveiled its first-ever Bluetooth earbuds that are now “truly wireless,” as the company describes.

Currently, Audio-Technica sells wireless headphones that range from styles. They have over-ear wireless headphones, on-ear wireless headphones, noise-cancelling wireless headphones and even in-ear wireless headphones.

However, the in-ear wireless headphones are somewhat ironic because unlike other earbuds in the market that are completely off of wires like Apple’s Airpods and the Samsung Galaxy Buds, Audio-Technica’s “wireless” headphones are still connected to both ends via a wire.

They currently retail at around $39 to $114.24 on

Most recently, Audio-Technica has released its very first truly wireless earbuds, the ATH-CKS5TW and ATH-CK3TW models. The ATH-CK3TW is enclosed in a case that is reminiscent of the Apple Airpods, while the ATH-CKS5TW’s case looks just like the ones you put your Samsung Galaxy Buds in.

Comparisons aside, the $149.00 Audio-Technica ATH-CKS5TW earbuds features a new eartip design with a 10mm driver that has a dual-layer diaphragm. This diaphragm is made with a combination of hard and soft materials to deliver clear, full-range audio with rich, accurate bass from any music source, according to the company.

Meanwhile, the Audio-Technica ATH-CK3TW, which has a suggested retail price of $99.00, has 5.8 mm drivers, making it a little smaller than the ATH-CKS5TW earbuds. However, just because it’s smaller doesn’t mean it can’t deliver. The ATH-CK3TW still provides a powerful listening experience with its smooth silicone eartips that lets users feel comfortable wearing the headphones. The silicone also blocks background noise to let the user enjoy uninterrupted music.

Both models have controls on each earbud. These controls allow users to control their music, phone calls and volume without having to pull out their smartphones from their pockets.

In terms of battery life, the ATH-CKS5TW has a much bigger battery capacity than the ATH-CK3TW. The former can deliver 15 hours of continuous playback when fully charged, while the latter offers up to six hours of battery life per charge. The ATH-CKS5TW’s charging case provides an additional 30 hours of playtime, while the ATH-CK3TW’s charging case provides an additional 24 hours, which is not that bad for a normal user.

Both pairs are compatible with Siri and Google Assistant.

The ATH-CKS5TW will be available for purchase within this month, while the ATH-CK3TW will hit stores in November.
