"Alexa, donate to my favorite presidential candidate”

Amazon stressed that Alexa is nonpartisan.

Amazon has announced that its voice assistant Alexa will help Americans make a part in the upcoming 2020 U.S. Presidential election.

Among other things, people with Alexa speakers or any device that has built-in Alexa will be able to tell them to donate up to $200 to any participating candidate's campaign fundraising efforts. Contributions made via Alexa are powered by Amazon Pay, meaning donations made via Alexa Political Contributions will use the payment information that people have in their Amazon account.

Apart from that, Alexa can also provide information on other aspects of the presidential elections. Users can ask Alexa a range of questions including:

"Alexa, who is running for president?"

"Alexa, how is [candidate name] polling?"

"Alexa, who endorses [candidate name]?"

"Alexa, when is the Iowa caucus?"

"Alexa, how does [candidate name] stand on Education?"

"Alexa, when is the next debate?"

It comes after Amazon found out that a lot of people asked Alexa some questions about the midterm elections last fall, such as: "Alexa, when are the polls open?", "Alexa, who is winning in New York?", "Alexa, what happened in the midterm election?", and more.

In the days leading up to the U.S. Presidential election in November 2020, Amazon said it will use hundreds of information sources and team up with nonpartisan organizations to provide the answers to customers’ questions to Alexa such as information on polls, ballots, results and more.

Amazon stressed that “Alexa herself does not have opinions on politics or candidates,” and that Alexa is only a “conduit, not a news creator.”

Since launching Alexa about five years ago, Amazon has added a suite of skills to the voice assistant and the most advanced yet is how Alexa is able to control smart home devices like the lights and thermostat, TVs and more. Recently, Amazon unveiled new Fire TV Edition devices including the Nebula Soundbar and the new Fire TV Cube that both have built-in Alexa.

Now, Alexa can do things like play your favorite song, call somebody, set reminders, find recipes, help you with shopping, play your whole home audio, create and manage lists, keep up with sports and more.
