Nintendo Switch Lite: Going smaller is the way to go

Avoid hand fatigue with the lightweight Nintendo Switch Lite.

The Nintendo Switch Lite has just hit the stores in the U.S. and some other markets worldwide today, and if you’re having doubts about whether you should get one or not? The answer is a BIG YES.

The handheld console market has gone from the old Game Boy that you play outdoors to the old Nintendo DS Lite that had cameras. Now, Nintendo has come up with a new gaming experience that would make any fan of handheld gaming jump for joy.

It’s the Nintendo Switch Lite and despite being smaller than its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch, it promises a range of attractive features that are considered as more than an upgrade than a downgrade from the original Switch.

All three variants are now up for purchase on Walmart.com, GameStop or Amazon.com. Choose from the following variants:

Nintendo Switch Lite Gray

Nintendo Switch Lite Turquoise

Nintendo Switch Lite Yellow

There's also a limited edition called the Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta variant, to mark the upcoming release of the Pokémon Sword and Shield RPG games in November. They all retail at $199.99, $100 cheaper than their predecessor, the Nintendo Switch. The Zacian and Zamazenta variant is still up for pre-order ahead of its release date on November 8.

The Switch Lite is a small but mighty device that is packed with a powerful battery capacity - giving players 30 minutes of additional play when compared to the Switch. The Switch Lite can provide approximately 3 to 7 hours of game time, whereas the Switch’s battery only lasts 2.5 to 6.5 hours.

Pricing is also the biggest-selling point of the Switch Lite. Although the company did not specifically say it, Nintendo appears to be tapping into emerging markets for the Switch Lite because it’s only priced at $199.99, compared to the Switch, which still retails at $299.99.

In terms of its size, the Switch Lite has an ideal size at 3.6” high, 8.2” long and 0.55” deep. It’s built to feel comfortable when playing long hours. Think of the Switch Lite as a mini-version of the Switch that measures 4” high, 9.4” long and 0.55” deep with the Joy-Con attached. At that size, the Switch can be pretty heavy and could cause muscle strain when you’re playing for long hours. That is why there are grip or holders that are built for the Switch.

Now if you’re still adjusting from the Switch to the Switch Lite, you can try out the Grip for Nintendo Switch Lite that only retails at $13.99. It’s ergonomically designed to help players avoid hand cramping and hand fatigue, allowing them to enjoy their game for longer periods of time.
