Louis Vuitton to design trophy travel case for League of Legends Championship

The League of Legends championship is going luxurious.

Louis Vuitton has found an unlikely partner in Riot Games. The French luxury fashion house is foraying into the world of video games through a collaboration with game developer Riot Games.

Under the partnership, Louis Vuitton will design a one-of-a-kind Trophy Travel Case that will be awarded to the lucky winner of the 2019 League of Legends World Championship that is happening from October 2 to November 10. The championship will kick off in Berlin, Germany, while the awarding will be held at Louis Vuitton's home city of Paris, France.

The Trophy Travel Case will bear the iconic Louis Vuitton trademark that is seen in almost all of the classic Louis Vuitton luggages, purses and other leather goods.

The Louis Vuitton Trophy Travel Case for League of Legends will hold the Summoner’s Cup, which is seen as the most prestigious prize in esports today.

This is the first time ever that the luxury goods maker has teamed up with a game developer to create something sophisticated for esports. Earlier, Louis Vuitton has partnered with the FIFA World Cup, the Rugby World Cup, and sailing’s America’s Cup to create similar trunks that are only made for champions.

Apart from the trophy case, Louis Vuitton and Riot Games are expanding their partnership to include unique champion skins and a capsule collection to be designed by Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of Women’s collections, Nicolas Ghesquière. The designer will also design other League of Legend digital assets.

“We are honored to have Louis Vuitton as an official partner with designs to impact the look, feel, and prestige of our most prominent League of Legends event... This is a historic partnership that speaks to the impact Riot Games and League of Legends has had on the industry over the past nine esports seasons. We welcome the LV brand to our sport and we are eager to share the entire scope of the partnership in the months ahead, in particular on November 10 when the Summoner’s Cup is awarded in Paris," Naz Aletaha, Head of Global Esports Partnerships at Riot Games, said in a statement.
