Super Mario Maker 2 now offers play-with-friends option

You can now play with your buddies and build courses together.

Nintendo's Super Mario Maker 2 game for the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite now comes with a new feature that allows players to play co-op and versus multiplayer modes with their friends.

The change was part of the free Version 1.1.0 update that was released yesterday.

The ability to play in Multiplayer Versus or Multiplayer Co-op is an expansion of the already available play mode against randomly selected players. The good thing about the update is that you can invite your friends in your Nintendo Switch friends list to play.

You and your friends can now select the Course World difficulty and the courses to play from your list of locally saved courses in Coursebot. The update also includes the addition of an Official Makers section on the leaderboard where all the courses made by Official Makers are displayed. You can also view the courses played in the recent Super Mario Maker 2 Invitational 2019 via this section.

Nintendo also updated the game to allow players to use both touch-screen and button controls when creating courses in Handheld mode.

The gaming giant said it is also planning to include new course parts in future updates.

Super Mario Maker 2 was released on June 28 as a follow-up to Super Mario Maker. The game lets players design their own courses using icons from the Super Mario series. These courses will be available for players from around the world to play.

The update follows the release of the new Nintendo Switch Lite, the more portable and affordable version of the Nintendo Switch.

The Switch Lite is available in the following colors:
