PlayStation 4 Remote Play will now let users play on Android phones

The rollout comes about seven months after the service became available for iOS devices.

PS4 Remote Play, Sony's gaming service that lets PlayStation 4 users play from their computers and from iOS devices, is expanding into Android devices with Sony's latest software update.

PS4 System Software Update 7.00 will roll out across the world this week.

Back in June, when Sony revealed details about its beta for the software update, the company revealed that the update includes the ability to increase the number of Party participants from 8 to 16. At the time, Sony also disclosed that the update includes improvements to the audio quality for voice chat and improved network connectivity.

Most recently, Sony surprised PS4 fans with Android phones with its announcement, saying Remote Play can now be accessed via smartphones and tablets running Android 5.0 or higher.

All you have to do is download the S4 Remote Play App from the Google Play Store and you're good to go.

The Remote Play access on iPhones and iPads was just introduced in March. The Android rollout was expected by many, but it was only now that Sony finally announced the Remote Play Android launch.

For iOS users, Sony also updated the software to let users display the controller at all times and lock the screen orientation.

Sony added that Remote Play users via Android, iPhone, iPad and Mac can now use their DualShock 4 wireless controllers via Bluetooth for Remote Play.

Meanwhile, Sony said PS4 System Software Update 7.00 has also enhanced the Party App to offer a new chat transcription for users in the United States. This is possible via the PS4 Second Screen App on smartphones. The chat transcription supports U.S. English and automatically converts party voice chat to text, which works when you'd rather keep your volume down.
