This is the idea behind London based tech-startup Swytch Technology, which has unveiled what it claims the world’s smallest and lightest eBike conversion kit.
The Swytch Kit makes it possible for anyone wanting to own an electric bike without having to ditch their favorite traditional bikes.
This kit can transform any bicycle into an electric bike and it doesn't require any heavy apparatus or other mechanical devices to do this.
Every purchase of the Swytch Kit comes with a compact and lightweight hub motor wheel that replaces a bicycle's original front wheel, turning it into an eBike. It also comes with a palm-sized removable power pack that fits to the handlebars of your bike. The Swytch Kit can power up your bike with 250W of power-assist for up to 50 km electric range.
If you wish to turn your bicycle back into a standard one, you can always remove the Swytch Power Pack anytime.
"With the Swytch kit, you can upgrade the bicycle you have at home into a premium eBike, save a ton of money and end up with a much lighter and more user-friendly electric bike,” Swytch CEO Oliver Montague said in a statement.
The new Swytch Kit is now up for pre-order on Indiegogo at $399 for the 35 km range kit, or $499 for the 50 km range kit with upgraded battery.
