Reddit's iOS users can now share content to Snapchat

Sharing Reddit content on Snapchat is made easier with the latest integration.

Reddit, which brands itself as "the front page of the internet," now allows users of its iOS app to share contents to their friends on Snapchat.

The feature, which was just rolled out today, will allow "redditors" who have both the Reddit and Snapchat apps on their iPhones share their favorite Reddit posts with friends in a Snap. To do this, simply tap the “share” icon on a Reddit post such as a text or image and select the Snapchat option. You can also pick a few friends to send the post to or you can add it to your Snapchat Story.

When viewed on Snapchat, the user's friends will see the Reddit content posted with the Reddit logo as a sticker. It will also show the specific Reddit community where the post was originally shared. For friends who have the Reddit app installed, they can easily swipe up on the Snap to visit the original post on Reddit to check some of the comments made and more. For friends who don't have the Reddit app, they will be redirected to the App Store to download Reddit for iOS.

"Reddit empowers discovery and discussion that many Snapchatters love. With this integration, Snapchatters will be able to share interesting posts they find, adding new context and conversation-starters to their Snaps. As shared Snaps drive engagement back to Reddit — this helps advance the power of community and connection across both platforms," Snap's Vice President of Partnerships Ben Schwerin said in a statement.

Commenting on the Snapchat integration, Reddit's Head of Growth Product Vaibhav Sahgal said: "Snapchat is the first platform partner with whom we’re testing a content sharing integration, and we’re excited to see how the feature will shape the sharing habits and experiences among our users. We hope the integration empowers redditors to share Reddit content more frequently, while simultaneously exposing new users to the unique content only found on Reddit."

Meanwhile, Reddit said the shareable posts will be limited to "Safe for Work communities and communities in good standing."

The platform added that the update would be rolled out to Android phones soon.
