Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite hit 15-million sales mark in North America

Nintendo's consoles are proving to be popular in the U.S. and Canada.

The launch of the Nintendo Switch Lite back in September has boosted the sales of Nintendo in only about a month.

Now, sales of the first Nintendo Switch and the Switch Lite have reached 15 million in North America alone

The Nintendo Switch was only released in March 2017 and it has so far amassed millions of followers because of its portability, affordable price and its versatility.

Combined sales of the very first Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite were up over 20% year over year for the first nine months of 2019, according to the Japanese gaming giant.

From January to September, Nintendo said its flagship titles have sold more than 1 million units in North America alone, with four selling more than 6 million: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The company added that Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. even broke records on the Nintendo Switch as these two games are the fastest selling games compared to its peers.

Nintendo hinted at more games coming this holiday, including new and refreshed versions of its existing games. Just this week, Nintendo launched Ring Fit Adventure, which introduces a new way to get fit.

Every purchase of the game comes with its own dedicated Ring-Con and Leg Strap accessories and the entire game kit along with the controllers are now up for purchase on retail sites like

Over the coming weeks, Nintendo is also set to launch Luigi’s Mansion 3, Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020. These games can be played on handheld mode, meaning you can use the Nintendo Switch or the new Switch Lite to play.

The Nintendo Switch currently has a suggested retail price of $299.99, but you can get one on for $299.00. The newly released lighter version of the Switch, the Nintendo Switch Lite, meanwhile, costs $100 cheaper at $199.99. You can find all three variants, as well as the special edition Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta variant, on for $199.96.
