Mario Kart Tour reaches nearly 124 million downloads in just a month

The game came close to Pokémon GO in terms of downloads in its first 30 days since launch.

It has only been a month since Nintendo launched the smartphone version of Mario Kart Tour for Android and iOS devices, but the game has already reached a skyrocketing 123.9 million downloads from both the App Store and Google Play.

Mario Kart Tour for mobile devices lets gamers play with their friends from across the world as they go on an international tour.

According to data from Sensor Tower, Mario Kart Tour has generated $37.4 million in player spending since its launch on September 25. It comes second to Fire Emblem Heroes in terms of in-game spending.

Fire Emblem Heroes, another game published by Nintendo, recorded $67.6 million in gross player spending, according to Sensor Tower.

The website also noted that Mario Kart Tour has surpassed Super Mario Run’s 21.8 million downloads by more than five times. Additionally, Mario Kart Tour generates revenue per download of 26 cents per player, up versus Dr. Mario World’s 19 cents per player, but still far below Dragalia Lost's $16.50 per player revenue in its first month, the report said.

In Mario Kart Tour, players can upgrade their karts to 200cc mode for $4.99 in order to get ultra fast speeds, along with other badges. There's also a Gold Pass that allows players to buy and unlock several key items during the game.

Meanwhile, Sensor Tower noted that Mario Kart Tour still comes second to Pokémon GO in terms of downloads in its first 30 days since launch. Back when Pokémon GO was released in 2016, the game has amassed 163 million downloads in its first 30 days. Sensor Tower said Mario Kart Tour's figure only accounts for 76% of Pokémon GO's.
