Amazon Prime members can now enjoy fast and free grocery deliveries

The grocery battle is heating up.

Amazon has dropped its grocery delivery fee for Prime customers amid an intense grocery competition between the e-commerce giant and its rivals including Walmart.

The company said it is making products from Whole Foods Market available directly on Amazon.com and on the Amazon App, letting shoppers choose between shopping from Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods.

Prime members will no longer have to pay a fee when getting their groceries delivered from both Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods.

Whether you're ordering meat, seafood, produce, snacks and household essentials, Amazon said you will no longer have to spend a dime on getting your groceries to your doorstep. Previously, Amazon customers had to pay $14.99 for the service.

Now, customers can even choose between having their orders delivered in as fast as one or two hours for free.

"Prime members love the convenience of free grocery delivery on Amazon, which is why we’ve made Amazon Fresh a free benefit of Prime, saving customers $14.99 per month,” Amazon Grocery Delivery Vice President Stephenie Landry said in a statement.

It comes as Walmart recently unveiled attractive offers for its customers. Back in September, Walmart unveiled its plans to expand its Delivery Unlimited, a grocery delivery membership, to 1,400 stores across the United States.

Just this month, Walmart also launched a new service that would allow shoppers to request for home deliveries, where Walmart associates can load up customers' orders straight to their refrigerators.

Amazon has yet to release that kind of delivery service, but it said it is expanding grocery delivery from Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods Market to more cities from the current 2,000 cities and towns.
