Amazon ranks the Best Books of 2019

Margaret Atwood’s “The Testaments” was hailed as the No. 1 Book of the Year.

Before Amazon became the global retail giant that it is right now, the company started out as an offline bookstore selling nothing else but books. Now, it has branched out into almost every product category you can think of.

However, just because Amazon has become the go-to place for consumer electronic items and other consumer goods that are popular among customers worldwide, Amazon has kept its tradition of listing the Top 100 Books of the Year.

Amazon releases this list every year to help readers find their next great read.

Last year, Tara Westover’s “Educated: A Memoir” was hailed as the number one book of the year, as rated by Amazon Books editors, while Michelle Obama’s memoir entitled “Becoming” was the bestseller.

“The Books Editorial team reads thousands of new releases every year, all with the goal of recommending the very best to our customers… This year there were so many great books from various genres. Our top 100 Best Books list includes books with clever satire, heartwarming memoirs and psychological thrillers,” Amazon Books’ Editorial Director Sarah Gelman said in a statement.

This year, Amazon Books editors identified Margaret Atwood’s “The Testaments” as the No. 1 Book of the Year.

“As soon as we read it, it was clear that Margaret Atwood’s The Testaments was the book of the year. The sequel to the modern classic The Handmaid’s Tale enraptured our editorial team and readers across the globe with a dramatic continuation of goings-on in the dystopian Republic of Gilead. It’s so exciting to witness literary history being made, and Atwood has done just that with this deeply moving book,” Gelman said.

Amazon Editorial Team’s Top 10 picks of 2019:

1. The Testaments by Margaret Atwood

2. The Nickel Boys: A Novel by Colson Whitehead

3. Wild Game by Adrienne Brodeur
