CES 2020: Schedule, Highlights, Speakers, All You Need to Know

Electric cars and self-driving vehicles will be the highlight of CES 2020.

The annual Consumer Electronics Show 2020 is about to take center stage again and the biggest innovators in the consumer electronics space are set to again exhibit their latest inventions, giving a snippet of the products that they are about to unveil soon.

The CES is hosted by the Consumer Technology Association and it’s held annually every January at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year, the event will run from January 7 to 10, featuring over 1,000 speakers, 4,500 exhibitors — of which over 1,550 are new — and about 170,000 attendees.

This year’s CES will particularly highlight technologies surrounding transportation, including updates on the latest technological trends in self-driving vehicles, auto semiconductors and other connected vehicle technologies. In the CES 2020 promo video, the organizers said attendees will get to discover "an amazing car show inside a technology show."

The keynote speaker for CES 2020 will be U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, two years after delivering her speech as the keynote speaker of the CES 2018. For the upcoming CES 2020, Chao will be delivering her speech on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 11:30 AM, shedding light on the current state of innovation and recent DOT initiatives to support the safe integration of new technologies into the transport system of the U.S.

Chao will be joined by other confirmed speakers for the upcoming trade expo, including NBCUniversal’s Linda Yaccarino; Daimler’s Ola Källenius; Delta Air Lines’ Ed Bastian; Samsung’s Hyun-Suk Kim; and Quibi’s Meg Whitman and Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Apart from self-driving cars and other trends on vehicle technology, CES 2020 will again surround topics such as 5G connectivity, smart cities, artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency, digital health, fitness and wearables, smart home, augmented and virtual reality gaming, drones, robotics, esports and more.

Attendees can expect to see non-traditional tech company exhibitors such as Bell, Impossible Foods, John Deere, NBCUniversal, P&G and WWE. Those who have been regularly attending the CES will be surprised to see new exhibitors including Abbott, Bridgestone, Delta Air Lines, DuPont, Humana and Weber.
