Windows Mobile 6.5 is said to have its debut at the MWC 2009 in Barcelona this month and WinMo 6.5 handsets are expect to be in customers hands by Q3 2009.
According to speculations by Mary-Jo Foley on ZDNet about the release schedule for the Windows Mobile OS Microsoft might step up the pace and release Windows Mobile 7 to manufacturers already in fall.
This would translate into Windows Mobile 7 phones becoming available in Spring of 2010. Microsoft needs to be careful to get the right message across with Windows Mobile 6.5. If they cannot convince users that this OS is offering the same functionality as the iPhone OS, Android or the Palm WebOS it will be a hard year for WinMo phones.
There is supposedly a lot in store for Windows Mobile fans in the 6.5 version, but Android is expected also to come out with a new version and Apple is going iPhone OS 3.0 on us this year as well. (photo shows HTC Touch HD).
