CES 2020: GE Appliances to unveil digital cooking experience with Kitchen Hub

Homeowners will soon be able to video chat with their oven as their screen as they cook.

GE Appliances, one of the most trusted brands in the home appliances space, is about to showcase its latest innovation in cooking with the debut of its latest version of Kitchen Hub during the CES 2020.

The Kitchen Hub, an over-the-range interactive smart kitchen and ventilation system, now comes with a built-in microwave with an additional artificial intelligence-based third camera inside the oven to help users check the status of the food that they are cooking. This way, they will be able to see if it’s cooked, if it requires a lower or higher temperature or if they missed an ingredient.

Apart from the AI camera, the next gen Kitchen Hub will also come with built-in Google Assistant to let users create grocery lists, plan meals, search the internet for recipes or control the thermostat through the Kitchen Hub itself.

Users will also be able to do live video chats with the Kitchen Hub through its multiple camera angles. Those who are only getting into cooking for the first time will be thrilled to use the video call functionality of this smart oven. It would allow them to call their parents for cooking advice or to chat with friends as they cook in the kitchen.

"Our goal was to integrate industry-leading technologies into the cooking space that take the consumer experience to the next level… The next gen Kitchen Hub offers solutions to your meal planning dilemma, making life easier and better at home,” GE Appliances’ Executive Director for SmartHome Solutions Shawn Stover said in a statement.

GE Appliances said the next gen Kitchen Hub, as well as the AI-powered computer vision cooking technology for other GE appliances, will be available to consumers by late 2020.

CES attendees will be able to witness how the next gen Kitchen Hub works at booth #16006 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The CES 2020 is coming up in a few days from now, so make sure to catch the latest updates on the biggest consumer electronics trade show at I4U News’ dedicated CES 2020 News Hub.
