CES 2020: BlackBerry ties up with Damon to unveil electric superbike Hypersport Pro

BlackBerry is integrating its QNX technology into Damon’s lineup of electric bikes.

BlackBerry continues to branch out into areas outside the smartphone space with its new solutions for transport and other fields.

Earlier, BlackBerry announced that it will be joining the annual Consumer Electronics Show to showcase its latest next-generation security and transportation solutions using artificial intelligence.

Now, BlackBerry has teamed up with electric motorcycle maker Damon Motors to integrate the BlackBerry QNX into Damon’s CoPilot advanced warning system for its whole lineup of electric bikes, starting with the limited edition superbike, the Hypersport Pro.

The BlackBerry QNX offers a portfolio of software and services that are used in over 150 million vehicles and millions of embedded systems, including medical, industrial automation, robotics, energy, defense and aerospace applications, according to the release.

The Hypersport Pro, which will run the BlackBerry QNX-powered CoPilot, will be showcased at BlackBerry’s booths during the CES 2020 from January 7 to 10.

Damon will let attendees and customers online reserve the Hypersport Pro starting 10:00am PST on January 7. At BlackBerry’s CES booth, the company will let attendees experience riding the motorcycle in the #FutureOfMotorcycling Interactive Experience, a rideable stationary motorcycle that uses virtual reality.

“We're on a mission to unleash the full potential of personal mobility for the world's commuters… To address this, we spent the last three years developing an AI-powered, fully connected, e-motorcycle platform that incorporates CoPilot, our proprietary 360º warning system. By building it on BlackBerry's best-in-class technology that is safety certified, Damon motorcycles will be the safest, most advanced electric motorcycle in the market,” Damon CEO Jay Giraud said in a statement.

The CES 2020 is coming up in a few days from now, so make sure to catch the latest updates on the biggest consumer electronics trade show at I4U News’ dedicated CES 2020 News Hub.
