Intel introduces Horseshoe Bend foldable display concept at CES 2020

This new display will run on Intel's new line of powerful processors.

Chipmaker Intel has surprised the consumer electronics industry when it unveiled its new product offering: a foldable OLED display that can serve as a foldable 12-inch laptop touchscreen display.

At the moment, Intel has codenamed the display “Horseshoe Bend.” It is capable of opening up to more than 17 inches.

This technology will run on Intel’s upcoming Tiger Lake processor, the company’s newest Intel Core mobile processors with optimizations covering the CPU, AI accelerators and discrete-level integrated graphics.

The very first Tiger Lake processors are expected to be rolled out in 2020.

“At Intel, our ambition is to help customers make the most of technology inflections like AI, 5G and the intelligent edge so that together we can enrich lives and shape the world for decades to come. As we highlighted today, our drive to infuse intelligence into every aspect of computing can have positive impact at unprecedented scale,” Intel CEO Bob Swan said in a statement.
