Porsche Taycan Super Bowl ad: Porsche to air its 1st Super Bowl ad in 23 years, featuring the electric Taycan

The new electric Porsche Taycan will be driving to the Super Bowl this year.

After its more than two decades-long hiatus from the Super Bowl, luxury carmaker Porsche is making a comeback this year with a commercial featuring its electric car, the Porsche Taycan.

A company spokesperson confirmed the news to Ad Age earlier, saying Porsche will take advantage of the Big Game’s scale to make its new electric Taycan more familiar with the public.

“The Super Bowl’s scale and energy make it a perfect venue for reaching new audiences—in a fun way that connects with the Super Bowl’s own themes of performance and competition,” Porsche told Ad Age.

Porsche’s new marketing initiative follows the release of the electric Porsche Taycan in December 2019.

“The Taycan links our heritage to the future. It carries forward the success story of our brand – a brand that has fascinated and thrilled people the world over for more than 70 years,” Porsche Chairman Oliver Blume said during the introduction of the Taycan back in September.

The Taycan can run up to 100 km/h in less than 3.5 seconds with a range of more than 500 kilometers. For a charge of just four minutes, drivers can go a range of 100 kilometers.

Porsche has yet to make an official announcement or release a sneak peek into it’s upcoming Super Bowl LIV commercial, but a spokesman told Ad Age that advertising firm Cramer-Krasselt will handle the advertisement.

The 2020 Super Bowl, or Super Bowl LIV, will be taking place on Sunday, February 2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
