Toshiba unveils smart microwave that works with Alexa and Google Assistant

Toshiba is giving users the power to control their microwave oven by voice.

The 2020 Consumer Electronics Show became the avenue for all the new products and innovations from tech companies including appliance makers.

One of the biggest show stoppers during the CES was Toshiba with its new smart kitchen offering, a smart microwave that is voice enabled, letting users control it via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

The Toshiba smart microwave oven offers voice commands for hands-free control. Users with a compatible smart speaker like Amazon Echo devices or Google smart speakers can make voice commands to let their Toshiba smart microwave ovens do tasks such as start, pause and stop re-heating, or specify cooking times.

This intelligent kitchen appliance also packs a simple keypad with different power levels and a child lock function, making it safe for any kitchen setting.

“Smart homes are the latest technological trend… Faced with the rise of the IoT and AI, we will stick to our innovation-driven approach and continue providing high-quality, safe products for households worldwide,” Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Dr. Scott Sun, who is also serving as chief technologist of Toshiba, said in a statement.

Toshiba has yet to disclose the release date of its new smart microwave ovens or its suggested retail price. Follow I4U News to get all the details when Toshiba provides an update.
