Mountain Dew releases The Shining-themed Super Bowl 2020 trailer

The brand appears to send out a message that won’t surely be easy to forget.

Mountain Dew will be spending big on marketing its new drink, the Zero Sugar variant of its popular green drink, with a TV commercial spot during the 2020 Super Bowl.

The soft drinks brand has released a trailer for its upcoming TV ad during the Big Game, making its own version of a scene from the 1980 horror film “The Shining.”

Mountain Dew’s trailer featured a typewriting scene that wrote “New Mtn Dew Zero Sugar. As good as the original. Maybe even better.” If you have watched “The Shining,” the movie had the repetitive line “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy,” being typed by Jack Nicholson.

The trailer also showed the “2.2.2020,” the date of this year’s Super Bowl. It’s fairly safe to assume that Mountain Dew will be releasing an ad for the Big Game as many advertisers have also started to release their trailers for their own TV ads during the game, with many of them also including the February 2 date.

Mountain Dew’s commercial will showcase the new sugarless Mountain Dew, which was released earlier in January.

Apart from the clip, Mountain Dew has also sent out press releases with the repetitive words “New MTN DEW Zero Sugar. As good as the original, maybe even better?”

The brand appears to send out a message that won’t surely be easy to forget.

Mountain Dew's parent company, PepsiCo, is also set to advertise its Pepsi Zero Sugar drink. The brand has even made the new drink the theme of this year's Pepsi Super Bowl weekend party with Harry Styles as the headline act. Additionally, Pepsi has promised to give away free Pepsi Zero Sugar to everyone in the United States if the Big Game ends in a score of zero for both teams.

The 2020 Super Bowl, or Super Bowl LIV, will be taking place on Sunday, February 2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
