A follow-up to the Lenovo Mirage Solo could be in the works.

Lenovo could be coming out with a new standalone virtual reality gaming headset following the release of its Lenovo Mirage Solo in May 2018.

The company has filed a patent application with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission for a “Standalone VR Headset” with code VR3030S.

The application included a series of documents including test reports.

Lenovo has yet to announce plans for a new standalone VR headset or when the planned design is going to see the light of day.

Lenovo had previously released the Lenovo Explorer Mixed Reality Headset that still requires a PC to work. It has to be hooked up with a computer for users to enjoy mixed reality gaming.

The company launched the Lenovo Mirage Solo as a standalone VR headset so gamers would no longer have to connect it to any device.

It rivals Facebook’s Oculus Go Standalone Virtual Reality Headset, which has also become a massive hit among gamers.

The Lenovo Mirage Solo lets users explore a virtual world without the need for phones, PCs or anything that requires it to be hooked up with a cord. It supports gaming, YouTube, Netflix and other entertainment platforms. It is integrated with Google Daydream, the tech giant’s proprietary virtual reality platform for VR headsets.
