G.I. Joe: War on Cobra strategy game now available for Android and iOS devices

The Cobra revolution is here and you have to pick a side.

Over a decade since the release of the film G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, fans of the G.I. Joe series have been surprised with a new treat: a strategy game with the same name that is now available for download on Android and iOS devices.

The G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra game was developed by game maker Emerald City Games and was published by D3 Go! through a license agreement with G.I. Joe’s maker, Hasbro.

In the game, players will have to choose between fighting for freedom and saving the world with the Joes or teaming up with team Cobra to take over the world. The game features a huge lineup of heroes, villains, vehicles, and troops that are inspired by the world of G.I. Joe.

For fans of the G.I. Joe series of animated films and even the toy collection itself, they will be thrilled to see familiar G.I. Joe heroes such as Duke, Scarlett, Roadblock, Snake Eyes, as well as Cobra villains including Cobra Commander, Baroness, Destro, Storm Shadow and many more. Special defenses include turrets, sea mines, armed troops and heavy artillery. Iconic G.I. Joe vehicles Killer W.H.A.L.E. and V.A.M.P. will also be part of the game. They will face against Cobra vehicles Piranha and Stinger.

The goal of the game is to collect your heroes, troops and vehicles and then play against other players in battles as you reach the top of the ranks.

"G.I. Joe has a long, rich history and countless fans around the world... We look forward to launching a new way for current and new fans to enjoy the brand, and know that this game brings the brand to life in a new and exciting way," Hasbro's President of Digital Gaming Richard Cleveland said.

“For us, G.I. Joe is more than just a brand. It’s a shared piece of cultural history that’s near and dear to fans worldwide... With a proven track record in the mobile space and a passionate team of creatives, we’ve found the right partners with developer Emerald City Games to bring the fun and excitement of the world of G.I. Joe to mobile devices with this game,” D3 Go executive Brian Etheridge said in a statement.
