Hormel Foods celebrates Super Bowl LIV with 54-topping pizza

A pizza that represents the entire USA has arrived.

Hormel Foods will celebrate this year’s Super Bowl with a 54-topping pizza, representing the 54th year of the biggest gaming event in football in the United States.

The 9-foot long massive pizza features flavors inspired by delicacies and regional food found in the United States. The pizza is divided into five parts, just like the gridiron field and regional food favorites of the Northeast, South, Midwest, Southwest and Northwest of the country, the company said.

Each of the five parts is placed on a baking sheet and topped with ingredients that remind people of food in certain areas of the U.S. The Northeast section is topped with pork and beans; the South with butter fried chicken; the Midwest with BBQ boneless ribs; the Southwest with Southwest smoked brisket; the Northwest with grilled vegetables; plus an additional End Zone, a desserts portion topped with brownies, cheesecake lollipops, eclairs, macaroons and more.

Hormel Foods developed it with Master Chef Ron DeSantis.

"When the team from Hormel Foods and I got together to figure out how we could pull off a 54-topping pizza for the Big Game, while still making it something people can prepare at home, we immediately began thinking about the distinctive flavors of the different regions of the country… It was important to me that the taste be authentic, and by doing it according to regions, the flavors come together beautifully,” DeSantis said in a statement.
